Like Rain on Soil

Like Rain on Soil (A Poem for Henrik)

Always remember you are one of a kind,
A singular light with a unique mind.
No one can dream what you alone can,
You burn your own path like a steadfast candle.

They might throw their words like a weak little joke,
But you know their mistake—it’s not what you spoke.
You’ve feasted on truth, you’ve grown from the mock,
You are cool and composed, a resilient rock.

So be wise, learn the rhythm of when to speak true,
Know when to rise up and when to glide through.
Know when to be still and when to ignite,
You don’t need their “yes” to know you are right.

Some have a habit of pulling you down,
But lighten your spirit, you’re no brick in the ground.
You are strong, not weak—a force to be seen,
So don’t let their words plant weeds in your green.

Look instead at yourself and the goals you will seek,
All you can conquer in a day or a week.
Heck, the sky’s just the start if your vision is deep,
For the seeds of your future are yours to sow and keep.

And if all else should falter, if plans come undone,
Remember, you’re never alone—not one.
For the power to shape who you are and will be
Lives deep in the soil of the person you see each time you look in the mirror.
